The story of Jekyll and Hyde is so interesting and universal because it explores the sides of good and evil. It shows us that if we lean into our evil side, it will grow and vice versa. Every good story has a bad guy, but what is interesting about this story, is that the bad guy is also the good guy. I think that this concept is still new to the reader, even though the story has been around for over 100 years. We are used to there being the good guys and the bad guys, and the good guys always win in the end. In this story however, they both lose, because to kill one, you must kill both. The Victorians probably liked this because they were always told to suppress their evil, and when Jekyll let his out, Victorians saw what happened to him. This story is a classic that will relate to any era.
